Regulation of Suspicious Financial Transactions: FinCEN Files Leak Involving 19 Banks in Indonesia

Recently, the banking world was astounded when the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (“FinCEN”) files got leaked. Reported by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, there were 496 unusual transactions taken from the FinCEN Files. Banks around the globe reportedly recorded these transactions.

The Abolition of Complex Regulations for Importing Medical Equipment in Indonesia

Months after the first confirmed COVID-19 case, the pandemic remains as one of the biggest challenges in the modern era. Indonesia, with population of more than 270 million, is facing an ongoing battle on how to deal with the impact, particularly with limited health and medical resources available in the country.

Numerous different measures have been implemented by the government to restrain the virus. One of the most recent attempts by the Indonesian government is to simplify the regulations for importing medical equipments.

Issuance of Newly Promulgated Ministry of Finance Regulation Number 98/PMK.08/2020: Implications for Guarantor, Guarantee Recipient, and Guaranteed Party

The Ministry of Finance in Indonesia recently issued Ministry Regulation Number 98/PMK.08/2020 regarding Implementation of Government Guarantee Procedures for Corporate Actors in Guarantee Business pursuant to National Economic Recovery (“PMK 98/2020”).

The PMK 98/2020 provides provision on the realization of government guarantee. Our Deputy Legal Manager, Yunarto Zeng, along with our Counsel, Farah Purwaningrum, had prepared a legal alert to provide you with what you need to know about this newly-enacted regulation.

Overview of Fee Changes of Presidential Decree Number 64 of 2020 on the Second Change of Presidential Decree Number 82 of 2018 on Health Insurance in Indonesia

To ensure the implementation of Universal Health Coverage in Indonesia, The Government of Indonesia established the BPJS (Badan Penyelenggara Jaminan Sosial) or ‘Social Security Administering Body’ and by putting Jamkesmas (Jaminan Kesehatan Masyarakat/National Health Security) into action.

In the course of action, the dynamic situation compels the Government to make amends to the establishment and its governing rules. Recently, the Presidential Decree Number 64 of 2020 on the Second Change of Presidential Decree Number 82 of 2018 on Health Insurance (“Perpres 64/2020”) was issued. Perpres 64/2020 ascribes changes in fees for “BPJS”, which came into force on 1 July 2020.

This legal alert looks at the provisions relating to fees relevant to Wage Earning Workers, Non-Wage Earning Workers, Recipient of Contribution Assistance, and Non-Workers.
